I think its essential that one uses AdSense on their website for many reasons, yet be under no illusion; there are negative aspects of incorporating AdSense into your page.
The advantages we are all well aware of: a constant income based on the number of visitors and their rate of click throughs, a possibility to monetize your blog/site's popularity and so on.
BUT...the drawback is that, every click through, is a lost visitor - chances are that, once they click on an ad, they are moving on (mostly due to the fact that a new page opens up in your one, and your site is history).
Personally I feel that it would be much better if the new site could appear as a pop up window, yet there are reasons to understand why the advertisers wouldn't like such an idea.
Pop-ups are annoying, and advertisers know that, and they know what our reaction to pop-ups is...we close them down, 99.9% of the time. And if I am paying good money to advertise my product/service, I would like to ensure that my ad is actually seen.
So my advice to you - live with that. Ensure that your content is good enough for that customer to come back. Make an instant impression, without the need for the visitor to browse through every single article that you have ever published in order to find something which is interesting.
The thing is, if the customer actually clicked on an ad, it means that you are doing a good job, you have provided them with an additional thing they were interested in, in addition to the material on the site - and this earned you money - so instead of being grumpy about the disadvantages of AdSense, be happy and enjoy watching the dollars rolling into your account gradually.
